Thanks for joining us for this week’s edition of Metaburst! Today, we're covering the Fallout crossover in Fortnite, the demise of Meta’s Workplace, and 88rising’s metaverse collaboration! Read on for more details:
FALLOUT HITS FORTNITE
Fortnite is always teasing crossover events with major IP like LEGO, Star Wars and Street Fighter. But this next crossover will make you want to crawl out of the vault - that’s right, it’s Fallout! With the release of the Fallout TV show on Amazon, the game has seen a resurgence in popularity. Fortnite teased a Fallout island and power armor from the game, but we hope there are even more items added for the regular battle royale mode. Players can expect to stock up on Nuka-Colas sometime next season!
META DROPPING WORKPLACE
Meta made headlines this week when they announced that they’re shutting down their Workplace app. The plan is to focus on developing AI and their metaverse environment. Workplace will become obsolete starting June 2026. Users are expected to transition to Zoom’s Workvivo in the meantime. This seems like a smart move from Meta, they’re listening to the market and focusing on what’s growing - and that’s the metaverse!
88RISING IN THE METAVERSE
The record label, 88rising, has been making waves for the past 9 years, from Joji to Niki to Keith Ape. The group just made another splash at their music festival Head In the Clouds, in NYC. 88rising decided to take the festival into the metaverse by collaborating with two platforms: Zepeto and ZTX. Zepeto is social and chat based, ZTX builds off of Zepeto’s base by offering a way to trade and make digital assets on the blockchain. To celebrate the festival virtually, 88rising made commemorative digital collectibles.
We hope you enjoyed reading about these exciting stories. There were some interesting updates in the metaverse like the Fallout collab with Fortnite, and 88rising’s involvement with Zepeto and ZTX. Meta’s focus shift to AI and the metaverse indicates more investment into these areas is a general trend in the industry. Make sure to come back next week to hear more stories from the metaverse!
