Metaburst April 23rd

Updated: May 7

Welcome to this week’s edition of Metaburst! A lot of impressive news has come out like Fortnite summoning the Force, Meta educating students, and Warner Bros crushing it on Roblox. Read on for more details:

A DISTURBANCE IN THE FORTNITE

Star Wars is getting another sequel…on Fortnite! That’s right, another event with the Star Wars universe is on its way ahead of May the Fourth. With the new LEGO and Festival modes, there could be a lot of galaxy goodness across the game. And of course, new skins! Maybe we’ll finally get Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. You won’t want to miss this, and as always, May the Fourth be with you.

META BRINGS AR TO STUDENTS

While Meta has been developing its platform for a while now, it recently revealed plans to be used by students as young as 13. With Meta’s big push into AR tech, this could help get kids comfortable with using these devices. This could become another teaching tool along with iPads and smart white boards. Some students can expect to have these in the classroom as early as this fall.

WARNER BROS. LEVELS UP WITH ROBLOX

Warner Brothers continues to invest in games on Roblox. “Cartoon Network’s Game On” has proved to be a hugely successful implementation of their IP, generating over 34 million visits!

Featuring islands and mini-games based on shows like Teen Titans Go! and We Baby Bears, they’re adding another with Gumball’s Tower of Defense. Players will be expected to team up with beloved characters and build towers to defend the town of Elmore. The game will launch in May.

This week we saw news from three heavy hitters in the entertainment industry: Star Wars, Meta and Warner Brothers. It’s encouraging to see such big properties and companies investing in the metaverse, from Fortnite collabs, to teaching students, to new games in Roblox! Come back next week to read about more news from the metaverse!
